Philippines is first country to include ICOMOS Cultural Tourism Charter in government policies


The Philippines became the first country to include the ICOMOS Cultural Tourism Charter in its national government policies. The National Commission for Culture and the Arts approved the "2024 Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10066, the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009, as Amended by Republic Act No. 11961, and Other Laws and Regulations on Cultural Heritage" at the meeting of the Board of Commissioners on January 25, 2024. The policy is an omnibus, codified, and annotated implementation of more than 60 laws and regulations related to heritage in the Philippines as well as various international conventions, charters, standards, & recommendations. The Charter was listed as one of the documents that could serve as guidelines for the management of cultural property in the Philippines.

No. 11961 in the presence of Commissioners Ivan Anthony Henares, Arvin Villalon and Reden Ulo
