2023 Study Tour to Canberra and the Southern Highlands, Australia

ICTC organized a study tour prior to GA2023 designed to provide ICTC members with an opportunity to experience some of Australia’s history and culture beyond that of metropolitan Sydney.

The group spent time in Canberra and the Southern Highlands, where cultural tourism plays a major part in the visitor experience. In Canberra, Australia’s capital, members visited major national cultural institutions including Parliament House [old and new], the National Gallery of Australia, and Museum of Australia.  In the Southern Highlands, the study tour passed by the historic country towns of Bowral and Berrima, historic houses, rural art centres, and the Bradman Cricket Museum.

Both Canberra and the Southern Highlands rely heavily on cultural tourism to survive and thus, the members met with tourism officials to gain an insight into how they manage their roles and responsibilities.
